About Me
Hello! My name is Emily, and I am a trauma-informed somatic counsellor, as well as a yoga and meditation teacher. I work with adults, young people, and teens to help unpack the sources of stress in their daily lives, creating space for healing and growth within both the mind and body.
At the age of 10, I experienced the sudden loss of my mother. Without the tools to process my grief, I spent the next 15 years in a state of complete dissociation from my body. During this time, I struggled to find purpose and often looked outside myself for answers. The trauma I faced in my teenage years ultimately led me to seek therapy, which marked the beginning of my journey to reconnect my mind and body.
Through therapy, I explored a variety of techniques and practices aimed at releasing blocked grief. This journey allowed me to confront my shadow self and the emotions I had long suppressed.
Today, I am more in touch with my emotions and aware of how they fluctuate throughout the day. While I still encounter triggers from time to time, the tools I have learned from various therapists and teachers help me maintain a sense of regulation.
I believe that therapy can empower us to become comfortable with our internal systems and the wide range of emotions that can arise.

As a Trauma-Informed Somatic Counsellor, my approach is rooted in the belief that healing begins with understanding the intricate connection between the body and mind. Trauma can manifest in various forms—whether it’s a singular, significant event or a series of ongoing stressors. When we experience trauma, our nervous system often goes into a state of high alert. Even after the triggering event has passed, the energy generated during that time can become trapped in our bodies, leading to tension and pain. This persistent state of stress can eventually contribute to physical illness or disease.
Moreover, trauma doesn’t just affect our physical well-being; it also impacts our brain. It can disrupt our ability to learn, interact with others, and process emotions effectively. This is where somatic counselling comes into play.
